  • Not necessarily them personally but previous generations of British colonialism really (deliberately) screwed over the indigenous people in my country in a multitude of ways.

Every descendant generation since has benefitted from that to the detriment of indigenous generations. I, and my children, benefit from it daily with superior schooling, housing, health, wealth, etc.

Even the smallest things (e.g. voting for progressive government, volunteering, learning the language and culture, advocacy) that I can do to helps mitigate some of that harm.

  • In 1974 Cyprus was divided de facto when the Turkish army occupied the northern third of the island. The Turkish Cypriots subsequently declared independence in 1983 as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus but were recognised only by Turkey. In 1985 the TRNC adopted a constitution and held its first elections. The United Nations recognises the sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus over the entire island of Cyprus.

I’ve now fallen down a rabbit hole of Cypriot modern history.

  • Occam’s Razor: prefer the answer with the least assumptions. The simplest answer is that the stopper leaks.

You’ve only got a very small sample size and it’s possible that the stopper is slightly asymmetric and fits well one way and no other.

The easiest way to unreliabily detect this is just to rotate the stopper in the neck and see if it sits in one place sightly differently than other positions.

Also, if you’re more frequently drinking your preferred bourbon, you’ll have a harder time noticing any evaporation.
