Summary

Donald Trump plans to ban transgender individuals from military service shortly after his inauguration, reversing President Biden’s 2021 policy and expelling about 15,000 serving trans troops.

Critics, including advocacy groups and military experts, warn this move will exacerbate recruitment and retention challenges, harm unit cohesion, and create skill gaps amid existing shortfalls.

The order aligns with Trump’s broader anti-trans agenda, which includes banning gender-affirming care and restricting trans rights nationwide.

Legal challenges are anticipated as the military faces administrative and operational disruptions.

Hopefully the discharge is honorable and their service helps them get a good civilian job where they are happy and accepted

We’ll be lucky if they get a dishonorable discharge, because the way the GOP stands now… a firing squad isn’t out of the question.

I am disgusted by the world.

Fuck you Mace, Fuck you Elon, and FUCK YOU everyone who voted for Trump and signing my death warrant.

It’s so strange how this same action could be attributed to him being an ally or even just a cuck.

“The trans community is a beacon of Hope that must be protected at all costs. Under no circumstances will I allow any trans person to fight or die for our country, as they are the ones our country should be protecting most.”

I just don’t get it. Trans people can pull a trigger as well as anyone else. This is just hatred.

      Yes, this is indeed America.

Every 2 years since Reagan, we get a vote for either Greed(D), or Greed+Hatred®.

Greed+Hatred won this cycle. Not getting hatred as a result would be the confusing thing. A welcome confusing thing, but confusing nonetheless.

Hey! Let’s send over 10k of the people we trained how to use weapons professionally home in a clearly discriminatory manner instead of letting them keep their jobs. That will do wonders for political stability.

They want to deport the Mexicans, ban the Muslims, kick out the trans and (ultimately) the gays… they want anyone who isn’t a complaint WASP to be banished from society. They think they can do it all themselves. But they’re going to find out real quick that they can’t.

I still remember the labor shortage from all the deportations when they found out they need immigrants to do the work no one wants to do. They never seem to learn

It’s gonna be great watching centrists pretend that they didn’t just spend the election cycle moving to the right on immigration, supporting an ongoing genocide in Gaza, and parroting right wing hate against trans people in their own campaign ads.

They think they can do it all themselves.

If Democrats’ actions of the past months are anything to go on, Republicans won’t have to do it all themselves. They’ll have help from Democrats.

Seriously, pretty much all people I‘ve met who are offended by LGBTQ people have either suppressed desires or are really insecure about their own sexuality in some way.

It’s like that Hungarian minister who constantly attacked gay people until he was found by police at an illegal gay orgy in Brussels (illegal since it was during Covid lockdowns).

Let’s not overshadow the fact that people DO hate us just because they need someone to hate, or because their religion says to, or because their politics says to. Trying to pretty it up or make it “less bad” because they’re all secretly gay doesn’t help.

I detest the “all homophobes are secretly gay” thing so much.

What it’s saying, in effect, is that queer people are responsible for our own oppression. Because if every homophobe is secretly queer, then no straight person can ever be homophobic. If they were, they wouldn’t be straight, by definition.

The only way that argument works is if we’re actually arguing that there is no such as being straight, and that everyone is at least 1% bisexual. There’s some basis for that, especially in studies of ancient cultures and uncontacted tribes. But until we start taking that seriously as an idea (and that is a very, very contentious idea to be taking seriously), this “Only queer people can be homophobic” nonsense has got to stop.

I don’t think anybody thinks that only queer folk can be homophobic, but it does happen quite often. Usually it’s the fault of heteronormative indoctrination, religious or otherwise (which is also usually the problem when straight folk are homophobic)

Whether it’s trans people, gay people, or whatever, this is always going to happen to some population if the government is aware. Maybe not today, maybe not for a couple decades, but eventually. All you can do is hope to outlive it happening.

In the future it’s going to be about your genetic data that people have been freely sharing.

I got out in 2017 partially because I’m trans and Trump was coming into the oval office. He had made it clear that trans people would not be welcome in his military, and I wasn’t going to risk being discharged because of President Bone Spurs.

The military held him off last time, but I’m not as hopeful this time. And I just wanted to throw out there: I personally believe the GOP is going to use federal funding to essentially strip LGBTQ+ people of their rights and healthcare access. It’s going to be the Minimum Federal Drinking Age Act of 1984 again, where the fed is gonna say, “Sure, you can offer gender affirming care in your state… If you do, you won’t have access to XYZ federal funding anymore.”

And the states will let it happen.

For anyone with any doubt about OP’s comment, here’s the current landscape for specifically anti-trans bills:

      https://translegislation.com/

668 bills considered just this year. 1200 in the past two years. 84 national bills proposed this year. Tell me any minority in the history of the earth that has had this much legislation levied against them.

Next year the Republicans will be able to pass these bills carte blanche. It’s looking bleak out there y’all

I’m sorry to report, Ms. Bryant is not dead. She just hasn’t been very publicly active since the late 90s. Also, her granddaughter came out as gay and got married to her partner a few years ago. It’s a little harder to be publicly self-righteous when even your own family doesn’t conform to your beliefs.

It’s gonna be just like the “good” old days, where bigotry is both accepted and the norm.
I’m just waiting for them to change hate crime to act of morality, claiming it’s just upholding good Christian values.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. 🤮
