A few months ago, Scott Yu showcased a phone dock inspired by Dieter Rams’ iconic DN40 digital clock.
That got me inspired to create my own version, featuring a wireless charger from IKEA. The charger is integrated into a panel that slides into a slot within the dock’s body. Before assembling, the cable is routed through a hole in the back for a clean and functional setup.

To top it off, I even developed my own Android docking app — because, why not? :D
Very cool! Do you have the screen on for the entire night? Do you worry about burn in?
Yes, the screen is on until fully loaded. I’ve added a burn in prevention to my docking app, which just moves the clock from left to right and back over time.
That’s neat! How do you get it out? Is there a secret button?
What @chingadera said :)
It’s that orange/yellow bar at the top I believe, it recesses and pushes it out. If it’s not that, there’s a button on top somewhere that does. That is if it’s modeled closely to the inspiration he was talking about.
